The system ensures coordination of operations at the level of subdivisions and military vehicles, particularly for military forces on patrol missions and military stabilisation mission
Provides automation of typical missions at tactical command level
Software of the Battlefield Management System TROP has been designed to support operations of commanders at tactical level at the planning and command stage Battlefield Management System TROP utilises various communication means available at military vehicles with the purpose to exchange orders and information within command structures to subordinated military vehicles (commanders and crews) Due to its position in an army group the Battlefield Management System TROP is adapted to works with VHF and HF radio stations. The system can also utilise a communication infrastructure based on networks with IP protocols.
The primary task of the Battlefield Management System TROP is to provide commanding officers with a clear overview of battlefield current tactical situation. Visualisation of tactical situation is executed with the use of different map formats as well as with a digital model of the terrain, which enables various analysis, such as calculation of visibility range from a selected spot.
Battlefield Management System TROP has been embedded with mechanisms enabling automation of command dedicated to teams (squads), platoons and companies - providing a complete overview of battlefield situation thus enhancing operational awareness of commanding officers and proper decision making.
Battlefield Management System TROP is fully integrated with the Vehicle Intercom System FONET making use of unique properties of the latter. The system can also be implemented on other platforms, provided by users.
Main areas of automation with the Battlefield Management System TROP include:
- Mission planning
- Real time tactical situation visualisation
- Commanding
- Control
- Integration of GPS and INS [inertial navigation system] of a military vehicle as well as utilisation of data from the two systems for planning and execution of manoeuvres, passage of troops
- Alerting within a vehicle and subdivision
- Management of communication means, including the function of a remote radio control desk
- Automated exchange of information between military vehicles
- Exchange of formal messages, including MEDEVAC
- Exchange non-formal messages, such as military SMS
