Unmanned Rotorcraft
Rotorcraft TARKUS was created as a result of a research project financed by the Department of Science and Military Education at the Ministry of National Defence; the project was carried out by WB Electronics.

Rotorcraft TARKUS was created as a result of a research project financed by the Department of Science and Military Education at the Ministry of National Defence; the project was carried out by WB Electronics.

It was created to satisfy the demand for close range military reconnaissance (within 1 km - 2 km) in built - up urban areas. The main tasks of the rotorcraft include optical reconnaissance (with day vision and night vision cameras) in built - up urban areas as well as inside buildings or premises.

The rotorcraft is propelled by four rotors driven by electric motors. Such propulsion system ensures silent operations and easy handling of the rotorcraft.

Launch and landing operations do not require additional auxiliary equipment - the rotorcraft takes off vertically from floor and lands on any flat surface.

During the research project a number of unique solutions has been created, including:

- mechanical construction designed with the use of CAD systems,
- electronic autopilot along with control software
- radio communication system
- software for the Flight Control Station
- navigation software enabling an autonomous flight of the rotorcraft
- ultra light surveillance head
- mechanical details are produced with CNC machines which allows for full repeatability of the production process
as well as strict quality control

TARKUS system can participate in missions carried out in accordance with different scenarios, including:
- surveillance in motion or while hovering outside building and structures (usually from the altitude of 100 m - 300 m)
- surveillance inside buildings and structures
- surveillance after landing - a scenario of the rotorcraft landing on a selected flat surface (such as a roof) and carries out surveillance for a number of hours,
then returns to the take off point.
